Informal Sector Managed to Reduce Poverty Potential in Jakarta

The widely work opportunity from informal sector is deemed to reduce poverty potential in Jakarta. The Jakarta Statistic Center Board (BPS) revealed the poverty rate in Jakarta decreases up to 0.16 percent. Compared to last September, the number was 412,790 people and decreased 398,920 people in March 2015.

Head of Jakarta Statistic Center Board, Nyoto Widodo uttered although the percentage is relatively little, yet the nowadays poverty tends to decrease. It is triggered by some factors, such as job opportunity from informal sector with app-based ojek and culinary.

The Poverty Rate in Jakarta Declined

 

“Unluckily, it just opens on informal sector. It is supposed to also be boosted on formal sector thus poverty in the city could decline sharply," he said in his office, Thursday (9/1).

 

According to him, the informal sector does not influence by the hiking dollar. The indication says that economic growth continues to run. It is proven with many business sites opened and create job opportunity.

 

The number of underprivileged people is greatly influencing with the amount of Poverty Line (DK). Because they are people who have expenditure per capita per month below GK. The main data sources to calculate the poverty rate in 2015 is the data of the National Socioeconomic Survey (SESUNAS). There are 5,200 households of amount Susenas sample. So that, its data can be presented until the provincial level.
