Residents Asked Papanggo Channel to Be Dredged

Residents living in RW 09 and 10, Papanggo Urban Village, Tanjung Priok Sub-District, North Jakarta, want connecting channel in their area to be dredged. Considering it has been shallow due to sediment that feared could make flood in rainy season.

Every rainy season, our area always gets flooded up to 50 cm

Beritajakarta.com observation, mud in the channel seems already drying. Besides that, the end of the 8-meter width channel has been narrowing.

"Every rainy season, our area always gets flooded up to 50 cm. Since it's still dry season, we hope the channel to be dredge thus we'll be free from flood when rainy season comes," said Supriyadi (52), a resident of RW 10, Papanggo Urban Village, Monday (10/5).

Humanity Operation Held to Help Relocation in Bidara Cina

Head of North Jakarta Water Management Sub-Department, Kasna disclosed, this year as many as 26 connecting channel will be dredged.

Until September 2015, about 7 channels were dredged, namely Metro Kencana, Cilincing Raya, Jingga Raya, Tarian, Tanjung Priok, Pump Imlet Sunter Utara dan Sunter C.

"The dredging will be conducted within 3 days before December," he uttered.
