Otista Sport Hall Transformed Into Refugee Camp

To accommodate more flood victims in East Jakarta, the Otista Sport Hall (GOR) had to be transformed into a refugee camp for Kampung Pulo and Bidara Cina citizens.

There are currently 7 refugee camps which respective able to accomodate 1,000 refuges

“There are currently 7 refugee camps which respective able to accomodate 1,000 refuges. In case of big floods happen, we’ve set the Otista sport hall as refugee camp,” said Iwan P Samosir, Head of East Jakarta City Disaster Handling, Monday (11/16).

Samosir conveyed the number of refugees this year is predicted declining than last year. It is because many Kampung Pulo citizens been relocated to Jatinegara Barat Flat and also normalization  program that keeps being accelerated until now.

Flood Swamps 100 Houses in Cililitan

“Most of them have been relocated to the flat. We will keep optimizing disaster handling,” he expressed.

As previous reported a total of 490 residents affected Ciliwung River overflowed been evacuated to 7 camps provided.

“It’s still tentative and situational,” he closed.
