Vegetable Farmers in Semanan Expecting Low Price Fertilizer

Vegetable farmers in RW 04 Semanan Urban Village, Kalideres, West Jakarta hopes government to give aid of low prize fertilizer.

The price would be too expensive if it's multiplied 3 times

"There is no aid at all. Buying fertilizer in market is expensive, for instance urea," said Rosdir Arif (30), one of kangkung (water spinach) farmers, Thursday (11/19).

According to him, the price of one fertilizer sack containing of 50 kg is Rp 150-200 thousands. It is quite expensive, as it is not enough for only once fertilization to get good crop yields.

Greening with Vegetable Plants Is More Profitable

"The price would be too expensive if it's multiplied 3 times. Whereas the crop yields are not maximal since the water flow is lacking," he complained.

Head of Agriculture Section for West Jakarta Maritime, Agriculture and Food Security Sub-Department, Insani told that so far his side is only doing the guidance in form of farming counseling.

"Low price fertilizer is usually the ministry's program, as for us is only guidance. But, I'm sure farmers there more understand about the land contour, so they can use another way to prevent pest," he explained.
