Number of Waste Bank in Central Jakarta Continues to Increase

Central Jakarta Environment (LH) Sub-agency continues to increase number of waste banks in the region. Based on latest data, there were 5 new waste banks in Gambir and Kemayoran Sub-district in August.

Central Jakarta LH Sub-agency Head, Marsigit stated, number of waste bank increases along with the increase in consumers and income they get from selling the waste.

Based on data he collected, number of waste bank in July reached 253 units, which consisted of 34 units in Gambir Sub-district, 25 units in Tanah Abang Sub-district, 20 units in Menteng Sub-district, and 22 units in Senen Sub-district.

Next, 42 units of waste bank in Cempaka Putih Sub-district, 40 units in Johar Baru, 43 units in Kemayoran, and 26 units in Sawah Besar.

"In August, we add 5 more waste banks. 1 unit in Gambir Sub-district and 4 units in Kemayoran," he informed, on Friday (9/11).

In July, there were 4,715 waste bank customers in Central Jakarta and it increased into 4,768 customers in August. While amount of waste reduced in July was from 134,182 kilograms into 144,522 kilograms.

The types of waste that have been reduced including paper waste from 54,085 kilograms into 65,285 kilograms, plastic waste from 68,952 kilograms into 71,587 kilograms, and metal waste from 11,145 kilograms into 7,650 kilograms.

"For each type of waste is sold at different price according to the price in the market. Previously, the waste must be sorted first before being sold at waste bank," he conveyed.
