Biokonversi BSF Ditargetkan Mereduksi Sampah Satu Ton Per Kecamatan

BSF Bioconversion Targeted to Reduce One Ton of Organic Waste in Each Sub-district

Jakarta Environment (LH) Agency focuses on reducing organic waste in Jakarta by utilizing larvae (maggot) of Black Soldier Fly (BSF) for bioconversion process using core-plasma pattern, where the core unit (agency, sub-agency, and sub-district) acts as BSF egg producer and plasma unit (RW) will feed the maggots with organic waste.

Our purpose is to reduce total 2,400 organic waste per day in Jakarta

His side will provide around 5-11 core units in each sub-districts in Jakarta. Those core units will supply 8 days old maggot to the plasma units in each RWs.

Plasma units at RW level must feed the maggot with organic food waste for 10 days until the harvest age.

LH Sub-agency Builds Another Maggot House at Kelapa Island

Jakarta LH Agency Head, Andono Warih targeted each sub-district to reduce at least one ton of organic waste.

"I don't target it physically because each sub-district is different and varies. I'm interested in how many tons of waste are being used, at least one ton per sub-district," he explained, Monday (8/31).

Ideally, he assessed, one sub-district has 11 core units and 7 plasma shelves per RW. Thus all organic food waste from household in Jakarta can be reduced significantly.

"Our purpose is to reduce total 2,400 organic waste per day in Jakarta. It is a movement," he asserted.

For information, Jakarta LH Agency has built 71 maggot houses in all Jakarta regions.

One of them is located at LH Agency Office that has implemented maggot cultivation and reduced 250 kilograms of organic waste per day.
