Stakeholder's Role Needed to Combat Violence Against Women & Children

Women and children throughout Indonesia are still vulnerable to all forms of violence. The role of all stakeholders is needed to combat the violence that occurred all this time.

Almost 80 percent of population are women and children, which is still vulnerable to violence, exploitation and other discrimination

“Almost 80 percent of population are women and children, which is still vulnerable to violence, exploitation and other discrimination,” said Jakarta Governor, Basuki T Purnama, when he became a ceremony inspector of Mother’s Day commemoration in IRTI courtyard, Monas, Tuesday (12/22).

He also encouraged the stakeholder to concern on violence against women and children for the sake of rights equality and conducive in achieving development goal.

“Father and family's role is very important in which it needs to be campaigned in order to combat violence against women and children,” he uttered.

According to Basuki, the comfort and safe should be formed in the family. Because, every family problem often becomes the cause of violence and crime. "Now wonder, it always causes violence, sexual harassment, trafficking, pornography, drugs, crime, etc," he explained.

He also invited whole women in the capital to keep working thus could have the independence, creative, and innovative. "I also want to say Happy Mother's Day 87th," he closed.
