City Gears Up to Build 19 New Reservoirs

To face rainy season, as many as 19 new reservoirs will be built in 2016. These reservoirs are adjusted with the plots of land numbers that have been acquired in 2015.

"We can build the reservoir on the lands that have been acquired last year," said Head of Jakarta Water Management, Teguh Hendrawan, Thursday (1/7).

Hendrawan explains, those reservoir that will be built in five cities are used to accommodate and seep rainwater approaching peak of rainy season in the upcoming February-March.

End of This Year, 19 Plots of Land in Jakarta Acquired

"This year, I want to focus on the lands that have been acquired. We execute them as a water absorption in such reservoirs," he stated.

He revealed, the development is actually not yet executed last year. Whereas, the 19 plots of lands have been purchased.

"The assets have not been executed. That's why I'm currently inventorying and conducting execution this year," he expressed.

Besides reservoir, the last year's unfinished reservoir development will be resumed. One of them is Brigif Reservoir in South Jakarta.

"Our heavy equipment has abandoned there approximately two years. But we will resumed it this week," he closed.
