Don't Abstain Tomorrow, Basuki Says

Jakarta Vice Governor, Basuki T Purnama urges Jakartans to use their voting rights in legislative election on April 9.

Don't abstain. Please use your voting rights tomorrow

"I want Jakartans to do cast their voting rights tomorrow, instead of abstain," said Basuki, at City Hall, Tuesday (4/8).

He reminds that abstain is giving a chance for candidates who do not have good integrity and capability to rule for five years.

Ballots for Legislative Election Still Distributed

"If all legislative candidates are not qualified, but at least you could vote the bad from the worst. Everywhere, the abstainers always assume everything is bad. But don't imitate them, but you must vote the bad from the worst," he expressed.

Jakarta residents were also appealed to give opportunity for candidates from the young people's representatives.

"You would be better to vote young candidates rather than abstain. That means you have given them opportunity to get new hopes for our city," he expressed.

As known, Basuki and his wife, Veronica Tan plan to vote in Penjaringan Polling Station (TPS) 67.

As for the information, the 2014 Legislative Election will be participated by 12 national and 3 local parties. This amount is lower compared to 2009 participated by 44 parties.
