Basuki: Cart Men Phenomenon is Only Drama

Cart men phenomenon is assessed by Vice Jakarta Governor Basuki T Purnama dramatizing the circumstances for beneficial purposes only. This is because Jakarta Provincial Government has provided flats for underprivileged residents, so there is no more reason for living nomadic life. Most of all, those cart men are not city residents.

They (cart men) are not city residents. They are doing it intentionally. We have built flats for them, but they still live like that. That’s just a drama

“They (cart men) are not city residents. They are doing it intentionally. We have built flats for them, but they still live like that. That’s just a drama,” said Basuki at City Hall, Thursday (4/10).

According to Basuki, those cart men have economic motive to enrich themselves with unusual way.

“They are looking for money, not for food. They are looking for the green, they want to be rich,” he uttered.

Because of that, Jakarta Provincial Government will deport cart men to their hometowns. This matter will be coordinated with local mayors.

“They should be deported to their hometowns. If they want to look for money, we will remove them. We will discuss this matter with the local mayors, whether deport those cart men to their hometowns or give them a job,” finished Basuki.
