Jalan Warung Gantung in Kalideres Severely Damaged

Residents in RW 06, Kampung Kojan, Kalideres Urban Village, Kalideres Sub-District, Jakarta Barat, complained about the condition of Jalan Warung Gantung which is severely damaged. The residents threaten to hold demonstration at West Jakarta Mayor office if the road was not immediately repaired, because this condition is disturbing their activities and jeopardizing passing road users.

Permana (42), a resident of RT 01/06 Kalideres, said that Jalan Warung Gantung, which is 700-meter long, 5-meter wide, crossing RT 01, 02, and 03, is a main road towards Soekarno-Hatta Airport. The road is severely damaged because many asphalt exfoliated quite deep. So when rain pours, the road will be like a buffalo wallow. This condition has occurred for almost two years.

“ We have repeatedly reported about the damaged road to urban village and sub-district heads as well as Head of Kalideres Sub-District Roads Public Works Section. They only asked us to be patient. But until now, there is no continuity of our reports and the road remains damaged without any repair done by related unit. We ask the road to be repaired this year, or else we’ll demonstrate to the mayor office,” he stated, Thursday (4/10).

Responding this matter, Head of West Jakarta Roads Public Works Sub-Department Planning Section, Agustio, admitted that he already knew about the damaged road. According to him, the fund to repair the road has been budgeted in the 2014 city budget.

“We’ll repair the road this year. I ask the residents to be patient because we’re still waiting for the auction process,” he uttered.
