Pecinan Festival This Weekend, Be There!

West Jakarta Administration is scheduled to kick off 2016 Pecinan Festival on Saturday (2/20) until Sunday (2/21). The festival that is staged along Jl Pancoran, Glodok, Taman Sari is also to celebrate Chinese New Year (imlek) and Cap Go Meh.

West Jakarta Tourism and Culture Sub-dept, Linda Enriany said that the festival is collaboration with the China Town Art Culture Community. In addition to introducing Chinese culture, it also raised the Pecinan Glodok area.

"We want raise Pecinan Glodok area through Pecinan Festival that deserves various cultures. In future, it is hoped it could become an annual event as tour destination," she expressed, Thursday (2/18).

Meanwhile, Head of Attraction Section, West Jakarta Tourism and Culture Sub-dept, Wawan Hermawan added, various entertainments will enliven the festival, such as parody musical drama with theme "Pecinan History" in West Jakarta with guests, Sarwendah Tan, Azis Gagap and Jaya Noin.

"We will present Chinese culture music, barongsia (lion dance), gambang kromong, music band, malay music, Chinese and Betawian dances, as well as open bazaar," he finished.
