Jakarta Governor, Basuki T Purnama acknowledged that he was agree to raise plastic bag price by Rp 5,000 in supermarket.
Rp 200 is nothing for Jakartans. I think we could raise it between Rp 1,000-Rp 5,000
"I agree to raise the plastic price, as long as it does not conflict with the rules," he disclosed, at City Hall, Monday (2/22).
According to him, if the price reaches Rp 200, it will not affect much. Thus there will be no deterrent effect and people can still afford it.
City Supports Plastic Bag Regulation"Rp 200 is nothing for Jakartans. I think we could raise it between Rp 1,000-Rp 5,000," he stated.
He admitted would not eliminate plastic bag but only limit its use.
"I don't know whether there is deterrent effect or not. Moreover, we cannot delete plastic bag because people still need it," he closed.
