City will Make Park Bench Destroyers Put Their Hands Up

The damaged to park benches which were sawed and stolen in Dukuh Atas, Setiabudi, South Jakarta, by some irresponsible persons will be investigated by city Parks and Cemeteries Department. In addition to conduct a similar incident in other location, the city administration will also create a deterrent effect for the destroyers of public facilities (fasum).

Head of Jakarta Parks and Cemeteries Department, Nandar Sunandar said that such destruction is a crime action. Therefore, his party will try to find the perpetrators and give them a deterrent effect sanctions for other perpetrators lesson. "That persons should be caught and subjected so that it gives a deterrent effect for the others as well," said Nandar, Saturday (4/12).

He assessed there are two indications in that destruction. First, they wanted to test the performance of Parks and Cemetery Department. Secondly,it was a pure criminality. He also hoped that the perpetrators can be caught to be given a deterrent effect.

To prevent similar cases, there will be a patrolling increase of the park benches in the city. Moreover, hundreds of park benches that are the provision of private companies through corporate social responsibility (CSR) installed in some protocols.

As known since last year, the city administration put as many as 340 benches along Jalan Sudirman-Thamrin until Jalan Medan Merdeka Barat. The procurement of park benches was funded by the private sector. According to the plan, the number of park benches will be put in South Jakarta and Central Jakarta as well.
