North Jakarta Abang None Finalists Compete to City Level

North Jakarta Abang None (Abnon) contest had been held again on Saturday (4/12) night in North Jakarta Mayor Office. A total of 30 Abangs and 50 Nones have shown their ability to compete for the top 15 pairs of Abnon. The finalists will be selected to represent North Jakarta in the city level next June, coincide with Jakarta anniversary.

In addition to looking for a Tourism Ambassador, this program aimed to preserve Betawi culture and to explore the potential creativity of the youth generation at the same time. 

Head of North Jakarta Department of Tourism, Grace Mandagi Agustina said the participants are required to be able and understand the potential tourism that exists in North Jakarta. So that all participants should be able to master the tourist resorts and ready to promote their region to others.

"In addition to looking for a Tourism Ambassador, this program aimed to preserve Betawi culture and to explore the potential creativity of the youth generation at the same time. For this reason, the youth is required to be able to become the frontline in the construction area," explained Agustin Grace Mandagi.

Central Jakarta Abang None, Female Participants Dominated

Meanwhile, Mayor of North Jakarta, Heru Budi Hartono said that this program is one of a kind for the life and soul maturation. In addition to that, Heru asked the event organizers and the Abnon judges to give Asian Community material knowledge.

"This is important because the Indonesians, ready or not, will compete directly with other countries in the Asian Community in 2015. I hope that the youth generation should be able to maintain an emotional and spiritual balance as wll as be smart under any circumstances. Additionally, it also can anticipate yourself from negative foreign influences," said Heru.

One of the participants, Theo Reza Herdianto (25) admitted that such Abnon talent competition is needed in the youth generation. "In addition to preserve Betawi culture, North Jakarta has also maritime property that is large enough to be developed," said the man who lives in Blok M, South Jakarta.
