11 IIllegal Buildings in Makasar Torn Down

Dozens of illegal buildings stood atop water channel in Makasar Sub-district, East Jakarta were demolished by 70 personnel of Satpol PP, PPSU, army and police, Wednesday (3/23).

Makasar Sub-district Head, Ari Sonjaya stated, those illegal buildings are located in RW 09 Cipinang Melayu, Jalan Jatiwaringin with three buildings. These buildings are mostly used as beverage stall, ojek station and motorcycle workshop. 

Then eight other buildings are located on Jalan Cililitan Besar, Kebon Pala. They are used as fruit stall, fried snack stall, food stall, etc. The officer also tore down 15 chicken and bird coops in RW 05 Halim Perdanakusuma.

The Wednesday Control Movement (Geber) movement is as the implementation of the 5-point orderly initiated by Jakarta Governor Basuki T Purnama. One of them is the demolition of illegal buildings standing on the channels and sidewalks.
