Celebrating the holiday of Easter Celebration which coincides with weekend, Jakartans and residents from surrounding areas are going to their hometowns. As a result, several terminals are packed with passengers. Hasim (41), caretaker of Prima Jasa Autobus Company (PO), said the increase in bus passenger compared to regular weekend reaches 75 percent. Highest increase can be seen in bus heading to Rangkas Bitung, Banten, West Java. “
The terminal is crowded since last night. In regular weekend, we usually conducted six trips a day. But last night, we added six more trips ,” he told, Friday (4/18).As a matter of fact, Hasim continued, the amount of passengers increased in the morning. At 6 AM, six buses have departed to Rangkas Bitung. “There is no additional bus. We’re only waiting for the buses return,” he disclosed.
Meanwhile, Tanjung Priok Terminal Head, Alfred Hutapea, informed that the amount of passengers in every weekend is about 1,750 people. But last night, the number increased to 2,500 people. “We predict passengers’ surge for about 30 percent. If needed, we’ll prepare additional buses,” he stated.
Besides inner-city buses, Hutapea added, Tanjung Priok Terminal also provides intercity-interprovince (AKAP) buses heading to various destinations, such as Purwokerto, Malang, Madura, Rangkas, Merak, Bandung, and Bogor. “The amount of passengers increasing significantly only happens to buses heading Rangkas Bitung. Other destinations are not too significant,” he uttered.
