Residents who live in RT 04/02, Kebon Pala Urban Village, Makassar Sub-District, East Jakarta, are protesting the construction of a tower in their area. Moreover, the construction does not have building permit (IMB) yet. The construction of the 26-meter high tower itself has reached 80 percent completion.
We afraid the tower construction was done carelessly because it does not have IMB, so it is prone to collapse. If there were casualties, who will be responsible?

We afraid the tower construction was done carelessly because it does not have IMB, so it is prone to collapse. If there were casualties, who will be responsible? ” expressed a local whose name refused to be mentioned, Sunday (4/20).According to that person, before the tower construction started, the residents nearby the tower location had been offered to sign a statement letter by the landowner. However, most of the residents refused to sign it. “We were offered a stamped letter and forced to sign it. After that, the residents were offered Rp 1 million,” disclosed the local.

According to him, residents’ agreement can be proved with their signatures on the stamped letter. “Who refused? The residents have received Rp 1 million. If there were people didn’t agree, tell me!” he asserted.
Responding this matter, Head of East Jakarta City Facilities and Infrastructures Division, Tony, admitted that his party has not received the permission letter for the tower construction. “We have not received letter of permission. Even the (East Jakarta) Spatial Department, as the licensor, also hasn’t received permit proposal from the tower owner,” he uttered.
If the tower owner still not processed the tower construction permit, Tony stressed that his party will directly coordinate with East Jakarta Building Control Sub-Department to conduct sealing. “We’ll do it as soon as possible, if the permit still not processed. And if the tower owner rebelled, we will demolish the tower,” he stated.
