PPSU Officer Cut Down Old Tree on Sunter Riverbank

Around 15 PPSU officers from Pekayon Urban Village, Pasarebo, East Jakarta, cut down a Rengas tree on Sunter Riverbank. The tree as high as 30 meters with 2 meters diameters is predicted to be aged over 15 years.

Pasar Rebo Sub-district Head, Wahyu Supriyatna disclosed tree was cut down because its position is on the edge of Sunter River. Even, part of the stem protrudes into the middle of the river. Besides that, it also often trigger flood. When the river overflows, many garbage stuck in the trunk until it spilled into the settlement.

"Tree has been a dozen years and prone to fall. Its location protrudes into Cipinang River," he stated, Thursday (4/7).
