Collapse Prevention, 2,378 Trees in Central Jakarta Pruned

As usual, to prevent fallen tree from strong winds, thousands of trees in Central Jakarta have been pruned.

If the big tree is rampant, it will absorb all the nutrients, and have impact on the underneath grass and plants

"We keep doing tree pruning to face the upcoming rainy season," expressed Head of Central Jakarta Parks and Cemetery Sub-Department, Djauhar Arifin, Friday (8/28).

From the latest data, as many as 2,378 trees in Central Jakarta were pruned. It is conducted from January until August 2015. "Aside that, we also cut down 83 trees, 43 trees fell and 13 other trees broken," he reported.

January-June, 1,244 Trees in West Jakarta Pruned

He predicts around 5,000 trees will be pruned in future. "If the big tree is rampant, it will absorb all the nutrients, and have impact on the underneath grass and plants," he explained.

Even, hundreds of trees in some streets keep being pruned. They are at Jalan Tentara Pelajar, Jalan Borobudur and Jalan Majapahit. To smoothen its implementation, two teams were formed.

"We're also coordinating with sub-district and urban village, thus PPSU officer also participates to clean tree branches covered street signs," he uttered.
