Basuki Checks Sluice Gate and Pump

Before running activities, Jakarta Governor Basuki T Purnama took time to check several sluice gates and pump houses. His visit aims to find out the cause of inundation in several areas due to yesterday's rain, such as Jalan Gunung Sahari and Pademangan.

This noon, he was scheduled to open a meeting with the regional working unit (SKPD) to discuss about flood handling in the capital.

"I guess there is technical mistake. So I will discuss it in the meeting later. I will also explain my visit results in Pademangan and Gunung Sahari," he told.

He went the say that tidal wave is impossible entering because the dam has 2.8 meters high. While the wave only reaches 2.6 meters high.

"Mayor says water enters the city, I think it won't happen in accordance with our experience where the dam can hold wave as high as 2.6 meters," he stated.

Basuki also checked closed circuit television (CCTV) camera. From the camera, the wave was only 1.6-1.7 meters high. "In fact, based on the report, several pumps were turned off. Thus when rain pours, the water cannot be sucked up to the sea," he uttered.
