Djarot Encourages Children to Cultivate Reading

Jakarta Vice Governor, Djarot Saiful Hidayat wants children in Jakarta to be more active and cultivate reading. In an effort to improve it, Djarot formed a policy of 'Turn off the TV' during study hours at night.

The student can discuss together with RT and RW. Invite them, to turn off the TV at least two hours

He disclosed, study hours that is quite disturbed by the television is at 6-8 PM. "Turn off the TV will be tested soon," he said, after receiving the visit of the Student Executive Body (BEM) for Faculty of Social Sciences of the State University of Jakarta (UNJ), Wednesday (4/27).

According to him, its program is believed able to improve a child's desire to read the book. Because, in today's digital era, it has faded, especially at night.

Before running such policy, the city administration and college student will conduct socialization to RT/RW and citizen.

"The student can discuss together with RT and RW. Invite them, to turn off the TV at least two hours," he stated.

He hoped, the program can get support from the parents. Support is also hoped from other Jakartans.
