Break Failure, Transjakarta Bus Hit 5 Cars at Once

A Transjakarta corridor 10 (Cililitan-Tanjungpriok) license plate number B 7258 IV hit five cars at once on Jalan Ahmad Yani, Pulomas, East Jakarta (4/25). There is no casualty on this accident, but the cars are seriously damaged.

Allegedly, this incident happened due to brake failure. The bus driven by Pardamaian (50) was heading toward Tanjung Priok from Cililitan without carrying any passenger. When the bus turned around Cililitan, suddenly hit a Toyota Innova car B 1759 CKE. The hit made the car bounced 10 meter away and stuck on sidewalk filled with stone and plant sellers.
The bus also hit a Daihatsu Xenia car B 1695 FFZ and made the car rotated 180 degrees with inverted position. The car has it rear body damaged and left side glass broke.

Despite the bus had hit five cars, the bus still speeding as far as 30 meters. The bus was finally stop after passing Transjakarta shelter in Pulomas. This incident triggered traffic jam on Jalan Ahmad Yani, particularly from Tanjung Priok towards Cililitan.
Pardamaian (52), the Transjakarta driver, admitted that the bus was in normal condition a moment before he left the pool. Yet, the bus had engine trouble when he was about to carry passenger.
"I was asked to go back to the pool, then I turned around directly in Pulomas. But suddenly the brake was in trouble," he said, Friday (4/25).
Head Unit of East Jakarta Traffic Police, AKP Agung Budi Leksono, explained the case is handled by City Police Law Enforcement since the tragedy is involving Transjakarta bus. His side is only helping in securing and investigating the accident scene and evidence, also questioning witnesses and victims.
