Perumnas Channel Needs Urgent Repair

The condition of the Perumnas connecting channel, Cengkareng is worrying. Due to building, the channel as long as one kilometer and six meters wide has narrowed and become slums.

Water flow looks not maximal right now

Based on Beritajakarta.com, the channel that connects with Perum Perumnas Cengkareng Timur to Apuran River, some are already covered by hundreds of semi-permanent buildings. Even, some parts of channel width only leave about 2.5 meters from 6 meters.

Barno, (45), one of citizens in RW 16 said, the channel was initially belonging citizens that acquired by Perum Perumnas for handling flood in Perum Parumnas Cengkareng Timur. After being transformed into a channel, the land was repeatedly controlled due to occupied by illegal building. 

"Water flow looks not maximal right now," he told, Monday (5/16).

He continued the last controlling came from West Jakarta Administration in 2014. One week later, the citizens returned to rebuild building.

Unluckily, Head of Kapuk Urban Village, Firmansyah cannot be contacted. Then Head of Cengkareng Sub-district, Masud Efendy admitted has not known about the channel condition.

"I'm still at City Hall, wait a minute, I'll contact the headman to request more detailed information," he said.
