Pulo Connecting Channel will Be Normalized

An inundation as high as 20-25 centimeters that hit the Japaru Housing Complex, RW 06, Jalan Jati Padang Baru, Jati Padang, Pasar Minggu, South Jakarta was triggered by illegal buildings standing on the Pulo connecting channel.

This is basin area, many citizens built building on the channel. One of them is Jami' Hayatul Islam Mosque, it hampers water flow

This year, the South Jakarta Water Management Sub-dept has programmed normalization for connecting channel and elevation for road in such complex.

South Jakarta Water Management Sub-dept Head, Holi Susanto disclosed, the complex is always inundated, even though rain does not pour. It is also depended on water volume in the channel.

2017, Cakung Lama River Normalized

"This is basin area, many citizens built building on the channel. One of them is Jami' Hayatul Islam Mosque, it hampers water flow," he explained, Wednesday (4/20).

He continued, to resolve it, his sub-dept would elevate the road and normalize the channel.

"It will be programmed this year by making a waterway using u-dith, divided into two parts," he explained.

He added that the waterway would have 100 meters long and is hoped able to be realized after auction process and completed this year.
