Jakarta Provincial Government’s plan to renovate Pasar Senen, Central Jakarta, after Eid is ensured will be accelerated. It is decided after Jakarta Governor Joko Widodo instructed his ranks to renovate the market after fire burned thousands of kiosks there.

Mr. Governor has instructed to accelerate the (Pasar Senen) renovation. There has been an agreement with the traders to demolish the building after the fasting month and Eid ul Fitr

“ Mr. Governor has instructed to accelerate the (Pasar Senen) renovation. There has been an agreement with the traders to demolish the building after the fasting month and Eid ul Fitr . Besides, the best time to trade is during fasting month and Eid,” stated Vice Jakarta Governor Basuki Tjahaja Purnama, Friday (4/25).

According to Basuki, the Jakarta Cooperatives, Micro, Small and Medium Scale Enterprises and Trade (KUMKMP) Department has also been instructed to give capital loan for Pasar Senen traders to continue their businesses.

“It’s impossible for those traders to have capital anymore after the fire incident. Those traders are previously street vendors who were relocated to inside the market. Because of the fire, the bank would not give insurance on that condition,” he expressed.

Meanwhile, Head of PD Pasar Jaya Public Relations Division, Agus Lamun, added told that thousands of Pasar Senen Blok III traders will be relocated to temporary shelter.

“The market’s rejuvenation is actually has been planned, and socialization also has been done. The traders will soon be relocated to temporary shelter,” he uttered.

From a total of 2,043 kiosks in Pasar Senen, 3,096 kiosks were burned. Until no, the cause of fire is still unknown.
