Fire in Pasar Senen Triggered by Electricity Short Circuit

Fire that ravaged Pasar Senen, Central Jakarta, was allegedly triggered by electricity short circuit happened in one of the kiosks and burned thousands of others. Until 6.30 PM, Friday (4/25), Jakarta Fire and Disaster Handling Department was still trying to put out the blaze.

Temporary allegation, the fire was triggered by electricity short circuit,” stated Head of Jakarta Fire and Disaster Handling Department, Subejo, Friday (4/25).

According to Subejo, fire quickly gutted thousands of kiosks because there were many flammable materials in the market. It is also one of the obstacles faced by firefighter to tame the blaze.

“We had difficulties to put out the flames considering many kiosks’ rolling doors had not been opened by the owners. Moreover, the incident happened in early morning,” he uttered.

As many as 45 fire trucks were deployed to the scene. In details, 26 fire trucks are from Central Jakarta, 3 fire trucks from West Jakarta, 7 fire trucks from East Jakarta, 3 fire trucks from South Jakarta, and 6 fire trucks from Jakarta Fire and Disaster Handling Department.
