Hundreds of trades in Pasar Munjul Built Landscape (Lokbin), Cipayung, East Jakarta, are getting anxious because their earnings continuously declining. The reason is because the buyers prefer to shop to street vendors selling outside the market.
They’re just looking for a moment profit. Whereas, when the market was opened, they had signed an agreement to stay inside the market
Tens of street vendors, whose merchandises nearly the same with the traders inside Pasar Munjul, are selling along the sidewalk and park in front of the market. Inevitably, aside harming the traders inside the market, their presence is also making the environment looks dirty and chaotic as well as disturbing traffic flows. Ironically, local urban village and sub-district apparatuses seem to neglecting this condition.
Nurzanah (28), one of food and drink traders in Pasar Munjul, admitted that her earning keeps declining because buyers prefer to shop outside than inside the market.

Instead, they sold their kiosks and went back selling on roadside.
“They’re just looking for a moment profit. Whereas, when the market was opened, they had signed an agreement to stay inside the market,” he stated, Saturday (4/26).
Amien also regretted the attitude of Munjul Urban Village and Cipayung Sub-District apparatuses who are letting those street vendors selling outside the market.
“This matter has been discussed numerous times with urban village and sub-district heads, but there is still no response and action,” he told.
Responding this matter, Head of Jakarta Lokbin
UPT, Orada Sinurat, explained that the presence of street vendors selling outside the market happens because of lack of land for trade. To resolve the matter, in the near future his party will build a market to accommodate those street vendors.
