Flood Management should Be Done Simultaneously

Simultaneous flood management must be provided from upstream to downstream. The handling is not only held by Jakarta Provincial Government, but also all side.

Khusus untuk Sungai Ciliwung kami sudah selesaikan penambahan pintu air di Karet dan Manggarai

Mudjiadi, General Directorate of Water Resource for Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing, admitted one of ways for flood handling is adding water sluice at two locations. Those are Karet and Manggarai sluice gates.

“We have added sluice gates in Karet and Manggarai for Ciliwung river,” he said, Thursday (5/19).

Kodam Jaya’s 34 Ha Land Impacted by Ciliwung Normalization

By adding the sluice gate in Karet, water debit increases from 500 meter cubic to 700 meter cubic, and in Manggarai from 300 meter cubic to 500 mete cubic.

He added that Ciliwung river water debit is under 300 meter cubic. It means river normalization must be applied to add the debit up to 600 meter cubic.

At the upstream area, two reservoirs, Ciawi and Sukamahi will be constructed. River normalization will be applied for midstream and National Capital Integrated Coastal Development (NCICD) for downstream.
