"We understand the residents' concerns. Therefore, Rorotan RDF operations will not immediately operate at the maximum capacity of 2,500 tons per day. We will start with 200 tons per day, then increase to 400 tons, then 600 tons, and gradually increase to 1,000 tons per day, as directed by the Governor," he said, Tuesday (2/3).
He stated that the processed waste comes from six districts in North Jakarta and five districts in East Jakarta. The Jakarta Environmental Agency ensures that all emission and odor control systems are functioning optimally and complying with technical standards at each stage of capacity expansion.
In addition to the processing process, significant attention is also being paid to waste transportation, a key concern for residents. Asep emphasized that waste will be delivered to the Rorotan RDF Plant using only enclosed compactor trucks purchased in 2024 and 2025.
"No more open vehicles entering the Rorotan RDF Plant. These enclosed compactor trucks are designed to prevent odors and leachate spills along the hauling route," he added.
He explained that the agency also operates monitoring posts at two main access points from North Jakarta and East Jakarta. At these posts, personnel conduct thorough inspections of vehicles, including ensuring their containers are tightly closed and that leachate containers are not leaking.
"We immediately stop any vehicles that don't comply with the SOP and ask them to return to their original locations. For the past four weeks, there have been no public complaints regarding leachate spills along the route to the Rorotan RDF Plant," he explained.
He stated that strengthening technology and environmental control is part of the effort to provide modern, safe, and responsible waste management solutions.
"This facility is built so that Jakarta does not experience a waste management crisis like several other regions," he stated.
