Jakarta's Planning must Be Functional and Environmentally Friendly

Chairman of Jakarya City Council's Commission D, Yuke Yurike emphasized the importance of comprehensive and sustainable urban planning amidst land limitations and budget efficiency policies.

must be carried out optimally

This was conveyed by Yuke in response to the commitment of the Jakarta Governor, Pramono Anung, in following up on President Prabowo Subianto's direction through the Indonesia Asri Movement (Safe, Healthy, Clean, Beautiful) to beautify the capital.

According to Yuke, Jakarta must continue to be improved so that it can be on par with other major cities in the world, especially in the run-up to Jakarta's 500th anniversary in the next two years.

"We want Jakarta to be a city on par with major cities abroad. As a global city, development must be carried out optimally and comprehensively," she said, Friday (2/6).

She explained that efforts to beautify cities through beautification programs and park development must be accompanied by thoughtful spatial planning. She believes that urban beauty should not be judged solely on its visual aspects. It must also provide tangible benefits to the community.

"In landscaping and tree planting, for example, we choose not only aesthetically pleasing trees but also those that are easy to maintain and water-efficient. This is part of the creativity needed to find a beautification concept that is both appropriate and environmentally friendly," she added.

Yuke also emphasized the importance of utilizing environmentally friendly technologies, such as solar-powered lamps or solar cells, to support a modern and sustainable city image.

Yuke hopes that urban planning will not only be beautiful, but also efficient and beneficial in the long term.

"Things like this need to be considered, don't just focus on beauty, but also its useful value," she reminded.
