Jakarta Adds Public Space with Launch of Maroedja Sport Park

Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung inaugurated Maroedja Sport Park in Meruya Utara, Kembangan, West Jakarta. The 2.2 hectare public facility is the result of a revitalization project on land previously known as Ki Amat Stadium.

"This is part of how we involve the public in building Jakarta,"

Pramono said the name change was intended to give it a lighter, more modern feel while preserving Meruya's local identity. Maroedja Sport Park is a green open space that serves as a strategic hub for sports activities and social interaction among residents.

Pramono Wants to Increase Public Space

"Today, together with DPRD Deputy Chair and DPRD Commission Chair, we are inaugurating Maroedja Sport Park, formerly known as Ki Amat Stadium," Pramono said on Thursday (2/12).

Maroedja Sport Park is the result of synergy between the Jakarta Provincial Government and the Jakarta Council (DPRD) to provide inclusive, sustainable, and child-friendly public spaces.

He said the park is located in a strategic area, featuring sports and recreational facilities, including basketball, mini soccer and volleyball courts, a jogging track, a forest café, children's playground, retention pond and forest walk.

Pramono noted that development at Maroedja Sport Park is still in its first phase and will continue in the next stage. So far, the total budget for the revitalization has reached Rp10.9 billion.

The second phase will require around Rp12 billion to add facilities such as lighting, a videotron and supporting infrastructure to ensure the park can be used optimally at night.

"Approximately Rp12 billion is still needed. I have instructed the mayor and the head of the sports agency to immediately complete preparations for the second phase. Around Rp12 billion is required, and I'm giving them one month to prepare," he explained.

In developing the park, Pramono also opened opportunities for collaboration with the private sector through Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programs or other partnerships.

"I allow this development to be supported through CSR or participation from any party. This is part of how we involve the public in building Jakarta," Pramono stated.
