Holiday Spirit: 58,000 Visitors Flock to Ragunan Zoo Over Long Weekend

Thousands of residents capitalized on the long weekend and the 2577 Kongzili Lunar New Year holiday to visit the Ragunan Zoo (TMR) in South Jakarta. Between February 14 and 17, 2026, the zoo recorded a total of 58,025 visitors.

Public Relations Head, Wahyudi Bambang at Ragunan Zoo, provided a daily breakdown of the attendance. On Saturday (2/14), the zoo welcomed 12,758 visitors. This figure saw a nearly 100% surge on Sunday (2/15), peaking at 24,233 tourists.

Attendance dipped sharply on Monday (2/16) to 4,674, before bouncing back to 16,360 on Tuesday (2/17), the day of the Lunar New Year festivities.

Chinese New Year Holiday, Ancol Flocked by Visitors

"Our actual target was 20,000 people per day. However, due to various factors, the turnout was not as high as last year, which saw around 30,000 visitors daily," he expressed, Wednesday (2/18).

Wahyudi noted that operating hours during Ramadan will be adjusted to align with government-mandated working hours for the fasting month.

"Opening hours will differ in accordance with official regulations. We usually see a dip in visitor numbers during the fasting month, which is a common annual trend," he added.
