Transjakarta Prepares Free Services and Strengthens Tourist Routes for Eid

PT Transportasi Jakarta (Transjakarta) ensures the readiness of free services during Eid al-Fitr 1447 H/2026 M. This policy is part of the Jakarta Provincial Government's commitment to supporting residents mobility during religious holidays.

will be included in the free scheme

PT Transjakarta Director, Welfizon Yuza stated that the free fare policy is awaiting an official decision from the Jakarta Transportation Agency, which will be implemented through a decree from the agency head. He stated that the free service could be valid until the first of Shawwal or extended for up to two days, depending on the regional government's decision.

"All Transjakarta services will be included in the free scheme, from BRT to non-BRT routes, including the Transjabodetabek route. The fare remains at Rp 1 for transactional reasons, although the service is essentially free for customers," he said, Wednesday (3/4).

In addition to the fare policy, Transjakarta will also adjust its operating hours on the first day of Eid. Welfizon stated that services are expected to begin operating at 9 AM or 10 AM to allow drivers and employees to perform Eid prayers first.

Transjakarta is also anticipating increased passenger traffic to several tourist destinations during the Eid al-Fitr holiday. Several routes that will be beefed up include Ancol, TMII, Ragunan, and the Pantai Indah Kapuk (PIK) area.

Fleet expansion will also be considered for Transjabodetabek routes, such as those to Alam Sutera and Bogor, depending on demand.

He predicted that Ragunan would be one of the busiest areas, especially on the second and third days of Eid. Therefore, Transjakarta is currently reviewing the possibility of reactivating direct routes, including Corridor 13 from Ciledug to Ragunan, in coordination with the Transportation Agency.

"The additional fleet size will be situational. Overall, passenger demand across all routes tends to decrease during Eid, so the fleet can be diverted to strengthen routes to tourist destinations," he added.
