The conditions pose risks to maritime safety. Fishing boats are at risk when wind speeds exceed 15 knots and wave heights surpass 1.25 meters. Barges face risks at wind speeds above 16 knots and waves higher than 1.5 meters, ferries at wind speeds exceeding 21 knots and waves above 2.5 meters, while large vessels such as cargo ships and cruise liners are at risk when wind speeds exceed 27 knots and wave heights top 4 meters.
BPBD Head Isnawa Adji urged residents to remain vigilant against potential hazards caused by strong winds, such as fallen trees, collapsing billboards and structural damage.
"Residents are advised to check their surroundings, secure outdoor items and avoid vulnerable areas such as under trees or near unstable structures," he said on Wednesday (3/4).
BPBD called on residents to regularly check wave forecasts on its official website bpbd.jakarta.go.id/gelombanglaut and monitor flood updates through Jakarta's flood portal banjir.jakarta.go.id. Reports of potential flooding can also be submitted via the JAKI app.
"In case of emergency, residents are urged to immediately contact the 112 emergency service," he added.
