"We hold a free routine vaccination service every year to prevent residents' pets from contracting rabies, thus protecting Central Jakarta residents from contracting this disease," he said, Monday (4/6).

According to Syafri, on the first day, 107 pets were recorded as having received the vaccine, consisting of 96 cats, 10 dogs and a monkey.

Apart from vaccination, his party also held a cat and dog sterilization program to control the population of rabies-transmitting animals in Central Jakarta.

"Over the next month, rabies vaccination services will target six urban villages in Senen District," he added.

"I regularly take my pet cats and dogs to get free rabies vaccinations,* she admitted.
