May Day, Pay Attention to Traffic Diversion Imposed, Motorists!

Anticipating traffic congestion that might occur during the May Day tomorrow, Friday (5/1), Jakarta Police Traffic Directorate has prepared several alternative routes. The motorists are urged to pay attention to these routes and avoid passing on mass concentration points where labors to hold demonstration.

The alternative routes are:
1). For vehicles from south or Jalan MH Thamrin:
May Day, 18,000 Policemen to Secure the City- arriving at Horse Statue Fountain Roundabout, motorists will be diverted to left towards Budi Kemuliaan – Jalan Abdul Muis – Jalan Majapahit – Harmoni;
- or, Horse Statue Fountain Roundabout – turn to Jalan Merdeka Selatan – Jalan Merdeka Timur – Jalan Perwira – Pasar Baru – Gunung Sahari;
- or, from Jalan Merdeka Timur – Tani Monument – Senen – Jalan Kramat Raya – Salemba.
2). For vehicles from the junction of Budi Kemuliaan through Jembatan Serong: turn left to Jalan Kebon Sirih then enter Jalan MH Thamrin.
3). For vehicles from Kota: Pertamina Junction – Jalan Merdeka Timur – Jalan Perwira – Jalan Lapangan Banteng – Pejambon – Jalan Merdeka Selatan – Horse Statue Fountain Roundabout – Jalan MH Thamrin or Budi Kemuliaan.
4). For vehicles from Harmoni towards Jalan MH Thamrin: Jalan Juanda – Jalan Pos – Jalan Lapangan Banteng – Jalan Pejambon – Jalan Merdeka Timur – Jalan Merdeka Selatan – HI Roundabout.
5). For vehicles from Kota Station towards: motorists will be directed to turn left at Olimo Junction – Mangga Besar – Gunung Sahari – Jalan Wiryo Pranoto – turn to Pecenongan – Jalan Samanhudi or pass through Jalan Zainul Arifin.
“The traffic is diverted to prevent road users from getting trapped in congestion. It will be imposed on May 1-2, but situational. If the protesters were abundant and closing all road lanes, the traffic diversion will be imposed,” stated Jakarta Police Traffic Directorate Deputy Chief AKBP Sambodo, Wednesday (4/30).
According to him, traffic diversion would likely be imposed on Jalan Medan Merdeka Barat, Jalan Medan Merdeka Utara, Jalan Veteran Raya, Jalan Veteran 1-3, Jalan Majapahit from Harmoni in Silang Monas area, Jalan Museum, and Jalan Budi Kemuliaan from Jalan Abdul Muis.
“The citizens, especially road users, are expected to obey the traffic diversion imposed. We also urge the protesters to maintain order,” stressed Sambodo.
