Jakarta Aiming to be International Film Hub

The Jakarta Tourism and Creative Economy Agency (Parekraf), together with international delegates from the Busan Film Commission and the Asian Film Commissions Network, organized a Familiarization Trip (Famtrip) as part of a strategic effort to strengthen Jakarta's position in the global film industry.

This Famtrip serves as a tangible step toward positioning Jakarta

The attending delegates included AFCNet Manager, Hyungdong CHO (JJ) and Asian Film Commissions Network President, Kang Sung Kyu.

This activity began at the Gelora Bung Karno area, a major Jakarta landmark offering vast potential for film productions due to its urban scenery, world-class facilities, and easy access.

It was followed by a luncheon with the Governor’s Special Staff, where they explored partnerships and strategies to advance the film industry. Key topics included streamlining permits, bolstering the production ecosystem, developing talent, and positioning Jakarta as a creative hub in Asia.

Jakarta Tourism and Creative Economy Agency Head, Andhika Permata remarked that this event underscores the Jakarta government's commitment to bolstering the creative economy, especially the film industry, as a key driver of regional growth. This effort is also designed to establish Jakarta as a world-class creative city through ongoing partnerships.

“This Famtrip serves as a tangible step toward positioning Jakarta as a competitive destination for global film production,” he expressed, Monday (4/13).

Jakarta Marketing and Attraction Section Head, Lucky Wulandari explained, this initiative not only showcases Jakarta's potential as a filming location but is also part of an effort to develop creative economy-based tourism.

"This activity is capable of providing added value and attracting tourist interest through the film industry," he emphasized.
