Pademangan Health Center Promotes 3M Plus to Prevent Dengue Fever

The Pademangan Sub-district Health Center in North Jakarta continues to urge residents to consistently apply the 3M Plus measures to prevent dengue fever.

Pademangan Health Center Head Nur Rahmat said 22 suspected dengue cases were still being investigated as of April 13.

"The investigation is ongoing to confirm the patients’ residence. Early findings indicate that nine individuals are not Pademangan residents, four have tested positive for dengue, and the rest are still under examination," he said on Tuesday (4/14).

Nur explained that the health center, in collaboration with cross-sector stakeholders, continues to intensify mosquito breeding eradication efforts (PSN) through the Gebyar PSN program in Ancol, West Pademangan, and East Pademangan urban villages.

"This activity is conducted routinely twice a week, every Tuesday and Friday, as a preventive measure against dengue,” he added.

He emphasized that fogging is not a preventive measure but a control step under specific conditions. It is carried out as a last resort when more than two positive dengue cases are detected and mosquito larvae are found.

"The implementation is conducted in two cycles with a seven-day interval," he said.

He also warned that fogging must not be carried out indiscriminately, as it can impact the environment and public health, and must only be conducted by qualified personnel.

"So far, fogging has only been carried out in RW 02, Ancol Urban Village," he informed.

Nur noted that the current number of dengue cases is lower than in March. However, residents are still urged to remain vigilant by implementing 3M Plus: draining, covering, and recycling used items.

"Residents can also take additional measures, such as using mosquito repellent and regularly checking water storage containers," he asserted.

Meanwhile, Ancol Urban Village Head Bijakri Saud Maruli Manik expressed appreciation for the ongoing response efforts. Based on health center data, there have been seven dengue cases in the area, prompting fogging measures.

He also urged residents to adopt clean and healthy living behaviors through the 3M approach to prevent the spread of Aedes aegypti mosquitoes.

"We hope the spread of dengue can be controlled and that public awareness in maintaining environmental cleanliness continues to improve," he said.
