CCTV Integration to Bolster Jakarta Security

Jakarta City Council Vice Chairman, Wibi Andrino supports the Jakarta government's move to integrate surveillance cameras (CCTV) from private buildings into the government’s monitoring system.

According to him, the policy is a strategic step to bolster security in Jakarta, especially amid regional budget constraints.
“Relying solely on the City Budget (APBD) for CCTV would be difficult. Therefore, collaborating with private buildings is a great move,” he expressed, Friday (4/17).

“This survey comes from an outside body, and we thank them for it. Our responsibility is to make sure that these findings become a reality,” he explained.
He emphasized that security and public order are a collective responsibility, involving not only the DPRD and the Jakarta Pgovernment but also law enforcement agencies.
In this regard, Wibi highlighted the role of the Greater Jakarta Metropolitan Regional Police (Polda Metro Jaya) and the importance of strengthening communication among members of the Regional Leadership Coordination Forum (Forkopimda) to maintain the capital's security.
“Communication within Forkopimda in Jakarta must be established optimally. That is what will ensure Jakarta truly becomes a safe city,” he explained.
He also commended the steps taken by Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung, who is seen as having established effective communication with Forkopimda.
“The communication pattern with Forkopimda is already excellent; we just need to strengthen it and ensure tangible results,” he added.
Besides CCTV integration, he noted that the policy of keeping parks open 24 hours a day is also an effort to provide safe and inclusive public spaces.
“This proves that Jakarta strives to be a city that is safely accessible 24 hours a day. This is also one of the factors contributing to the improvement of security indicators,” he concluded.
Previously, Governor Pram mandated that all buildings in Jakarta with more than four stories integrate their CCTV systems with the provincial government's monitoring network.
This policy is established through a gubernatorial regulation and aims to modernize the city’s surveillance system to be more responsive and effective, covering everything from crime prevention to traffic management. Moving forward, this integration will be expanded to urban village level and public facilities across all areas of Jakarta.
