Polish Travel Agents Introduced to Thousand Islands Marine Tourism

The Jakarta Tourism and Creative Economy (Parekraf) Agency, in collaboration with the Indonesian Embassy in Warsaw, organized a familiarization trip (famtrip) with several travel agents and tour operators from Poland.

Promote Jakarta's destinations, particularly the Thousand Islands

The initiative aims to strengthen marine tourism promotion and increase international tourist arrivals.

Participants included travel agents and tour operators such as Turkish Airlines, Worktrips, Etravel, Almatur, Ecco Holiday, Konsorcjum, Warsaw Dispatch, and Soul Travel.

The famtrip featured visits to leading destinations in the Thousand Islands, namely Macan Island and Sepa Island.

Data shows that Poland ranks among the top eight European source markets for visitors to Indonesia and recorded the sixth-highest growth, surpassing Germany, France, and the United Kingdom. The number of Polish visitors reached 68,100 in 2025, up from 41,988 in 2023 and 53,907 in 2024.

Head of the Jakarta Tourism and Creative Economy Agency, Andhika Permata, said the program is part of a more targeted and effective promotion strategy.

He expressed optimism that the initiative would enhance the appeal and competitiveness of Thousand Islands tourism internationally, while also supporting local economic growth and community welfare.

"Through this famtrip, we aim to provide an authentic experience for tourism industry players from Poland, so they can more confidently promote Jakarta's destinations, particularly the Thousand Islands, to travelers in their country," he said on Monday (4/20).

Andhika explained that the program is designed to give international tourism stakeholders firsthand experience of the area's tourism potential, particularly the ecotourism concept offered by Macan Island and the white-sand beaches and modern marine tourism activities at Sepa Island.

He noted that Macan Island is known for its eco-lodge concept, emphasizing environmental sustainability with seaside huts, while Sepa Island offers exotic tropical scenery along with modern facilities such as hotel rooms, a beach club, and various water activities including jet skiing, banana boat rides, and even a shark breeding pool.

"The combination of these destinations is expected to provide a diverse tourism experience for visitors from Poland," he added.

During the visit, participants were introduced to facilities, accessibility, and tour packages that can be developed and marketed to international tourists.

"Through this famtrip, we hope travel agents and tour operators can become strategic partners in promoting the Thousand Islands as one of Jakarta's leading tourism destinations in the global market," said Lucky Wulandari, Head of Marketing and Attractions at the Jakarta Tourism and Creative Economy Agency.
