The East Jakarta City Administration conducted integrated food safety inspections at six traditional markets, involving around 30 joint personnel. The inspection was led directly by East Jakarta Vice Mayor Kusmanto.
The tests covered pesticide residues, formalin, chlorine, and other hazardous substances
Kusmanto said the six markets inspected were Palmeriam Market, Kampung Ambon/Ampera Market, Pramuka Market, Rawamangun Market, Jatinegara Market, and Cawang Kapling Market.
South Jakarta Partners with BBPOM to Strengthen Food Safety Monitoring"Among all locations, Palmeriam Market served as the on-site laboratory testing point using a mobile lab," he said on Tuesday (4/21).
He explained that the activity is part of a routine program to ensure the safety of food circulating in the community, while also monitoring the prices and availability of staple goods.
"We inspected various commodities, including vegetables, fruits, rice, beef, chicken, and fish," he added.
According to him, samples from each market were collected and tested at the mobile laboratory stationed at Palmeriam Market. The tests covered pesticide residues, formalin, chlorine, and other hazardous substances.
"If harmful substances are detected, the commodities are immediately withdrawn from circulation," he stressed.
Meanwhile, Head of Administration Subdivision at the East Jakarta Food Security, Marine and Agriculture (KPKP) Sub-agency, Thomas Rudiyanto, said 90 samples were tested, with 15 taken from each market.
"The tested commodities included agricultural and livestock products such as vegetables, fruits, rice, chicken, and beef,” he said.
He added that formalin was found in vegetable jackfruit samples sold by a trader at Cawang Kapling Market.
In response, officers immediately destroyed the contaminated products to prevent them from being consumed.
"The trader has also been given guidance," he said.
