Ciliwung River Collapsed Retaining Wall Repair on Jalan X Have Reaches 70 Percent

The progress of emergency repairs to the collapsed retaining wall on the Ciliwung River, Jalan X, Kebon Baru Urban Village, Tebet District, South Jakarta has reached around 70 percent.

The work process is quite lengthy

The Coordinator of the South Jakarta Water Resources (SDA) Task Force, Johny, said the landslide occurred in March 2026 and affected at least six rented houses.

"The work process is quite lengthy because the landslide site has a steep slope, which can be dangerous for personnel in the field. Therefore, the work is being carried out with great care," he said, Friday (4/24).

Johny explained that temporary repairs involved installing dolken wood to support the ground. The retaining structure is approximately 25 meters long and 15 meters high.

The use of dolken wood is temporary to prevent further landslides. Permanent handling will be implemented through the construction of a more robust retaining wall or embankment.

"In the work process, we deploy around seven to 15 personnel, depending on the level of difficulty in the field," he explained.

Meanwhile, Head of Tebet District, Putut Puji Linangkung stated before the landslide occurred, his party had conducted land acquisition socialization to 396 building owners on the riverbanks.

According to him, land acquisition is one solution to overcome flooding and potential landslides in the area.

"We have been conducting socialization since 2023, then continued in 2024 and 2025," he stated.

According to him, land acquisition is carried out in stages by the Jakarta Provincial Government after in Rawajati Urban Village, Pancoran District, South Jakarta.

"The number of residents affected by the Ciliwung River normalization program in RW 10, Kebon Baru Urban Village, has reached 396 plots. Meanwhile, data collection for RW 11 and RW 14 is still underway," he admitted.
