Kampung Baru Raya Drainage Revitalization to Finish Next Month

The Water Resources (SDA) 'Blue Squad' in Ciracas, East Jakarta, is currently upgrading drainage channels on Jalan Kampung Baru Raya. The project follows a community proposal from the Musrenbang forum and is expected to be finished next month.

Eight personnel are assigned to the project

According to Deby, Coordinator of Ciracas Task Force, eight personnel were assigned to the site. The work, which began on April 1, 2026, is expected to wrap up by May 10.

"Eight personnel are assigned to the project. Work has been underway since April 1, 2026, and is expected to finish on May 10," he stated on Tuesday (28/4).

He further explained that the 45-meter-long channel is being upgraded with 40x40 centimeter U-ditch precast concrete.

"The current progress of the work is at about 65 percent," he noted.

He continued that the upgrade was necessary as the previous channel was no longer sufficient. The old drainage featured only a basic concrete lining and was just 20 centimeters wide, which could not handle the high water discharge during heavy downpours.

"The only obstacles we've faced are utility cables and weather conditions," he added.

At the same time, RT 09/12 Chair in Kelapa Dua Wetan, Ngadimin, admitted he was very grateful for the project as it is essential for preventing localized flooding.

"We convey our appreciation and hope there will be no more puddles here in the future," he stated.
