This effort is part of a serious effort to improve the waste collection system at one of the largest food distribution centers in Indonesia.

Waste Management at Kramat Jati Market Reaches 2,002 Tons

Director of Pasar Jaya, Agus Himawan, said The five trucks launched each have a capacity of 16 cubic meters and will be used to transport waste from the Kramat Jati Main Market to the Bantar Gebang Landfill, Bekasi, West Java.

"This is a strategic step in creating a clean, healthy and comfortable market environment for traders and visitors," he said, Friday (5/1).

Agus explained that as the main food distribution center in Jakarta, Kramat Jati Main Market serves thousands of traders every day with a very large transaction volume.

"This high level of activity has a direct impact on significant waste production. Therefore, a structured and sustainable management system is required," he explained.

According to him, with this additional fleet, waste collection will be carried out on a scheduled basis and cover all market zones without exception.

"Pasar Jaya targets a significant reduction in waste accumulation, increased environmental cleanliness, and reduced health risks due to unmanaged waste," he added.

Pasar Jaya plans to integrate this waste collection program with various other initiatives, such as market environment improvement, improving sanitation facilities, and developing recycling-based waste management.

"We also invite all traders, visitors and the public to play an active role in maintaining market cleanliness, considering that the success of this program is highly dependent on the collaboration of all parties," he emphasized.
