75 Tons of Waste Cleared from RW 07 Disposal Site in Benhil

Central Jakarta Environment (LH) Sub-agency removed around 75 tons of accumulated waste from a temporary disposal site in RW 07, Bendungan Hilir, on Tuesday (5/12).

Four trucks took turns transporting around 75 tons of waste

Tanah Abang Sub-district Environment Unit Head Aripin said eight personnel, one excavator, and three large tipper trucks were deployed to remove the waste pile that had drawn complaints from residents.

Waste Sorting Movement Boosts Circular Economy

“Four trucks took turns transporting around 75 tons of waste from RW 07 Bendungan Hilir disposal site from morning until evening,” Aripin explained.

According to him, the waste pile accumulated because residents from outside RW 07 also disposed of garbage at the site.

“People from outside Bendungan Hilir pass through the area on motorcycles, and even vendors deliberately dump waste at this location,” he added.

Meanwhile, Bendungan Hilir Urban Village Economic and Development Section Head Muhammad Irwansyah said his office has intensified public outreach encouraging residents to sort household waste to help reduce waste volume.

“We urge residents to hand over their waste to sanitation workers in their respective neighborhoods instead of disposing of it directly at the temporary disposal site,” he stressed.
