The General Chairperson of the Jakarta Football Association (Perbasi), Lexyndo Hakim, said that this year's event is a special moment because for the first time in 18 years, Jakarta is again the location for the tournament.
"After being first held in Jakarta, this 18th edition is returning to the capital. This is a great pride for us," he said, Wednesday (5/13).
Lexy explained that participants came from various regions across Indonesia, including Java, Sumatra, Kalimantan, Sulawesi, and Papua. Several teams from Malaysia, Thailand, and the Philippines also participated.
During the five days of implementation, there will be around 300 matches spread across various age group categories.
"This is an impressive record for Jakarta Perbasi because it is trusted to be one of the organizers and also responsible for the activity," he added.
According to him, this tournament competes in age groups ranging from 35 years to 75 years, both men and women.
"Reflections on the long journey of basketball players from various generations who remain loyal and love this sport," he continued.
In addition to competing for the championship title in each age category, the committee is also preparing awards for the best player and Most Valuable Player (MVP). As host, Jakarta Perbasi will also hold a gala dinner for all participants on May 15, 2026, at the Ecovention Ballroom in Ancol.
He expressed his appreciation for the full support of the Jakarta Provincial Government for the implementation of this activity.
"It is a great and perfect collaboration for us. Thank you to the Governor and all the Jakarta Provincial Government staff who helped ensure the smooth running of this event," he thanked.
Lexy also expressed his appreciation for the Evergreen Central Management, which is considered consistent in developing veteran basketball tournaments in various cities every year.
