Seribu Islands Sees 6,252 Tourist Arrivals

As many as 6,252 foreign and domestic tourists were recorded visiting the Seribu Islands area during this week's long holiday.

Seribu Islands remains a top choice for tourists

Seribu Islands Tourism and Creative Economy Sub-agency Head, Sonti Pangaribuan, stated that easy accessibility from mainland Jakarta makes the Seribu Islands a favorite destination for the public to spend their long holiday.

"Seribu Islands remains a top choice for tourists to enjoy their holiday. Our data recorded 6,252 tourists yesterday," she expressed, Friday (5/15).

Tens of Thousands of Tourists Flock to Ancol

She explained that these tourists departed from three main piers: 3,712 tourists departed from Muara Angke Pier, 1,594 via Baywalk Pier, and 946 from Tanjung Pasir Pier.

She predicts that the number of visitors will continue to rise until the upcoming weekend as the long holiday period is still ongoing.

"We expect these visits to continue increasing until they reach their peak this weekend," she explained.

Meanwhile, Harapan Island Ward Head, Muhammad Nuralim, reported that tourist enthusiasm for his area was also high on the first day of the long holiday. 1,425 tourists arrived at Harapan Island as of Thursday (6/14) noon.

"Their arrival was facilitated by 11 motorboats, including both speedboats and traditional vessels," he revealed.

He detailed that the tourists arriving at Harapan Island were transported by several ships, including KM Kelapa Indah, KM Ksatria, KM Merpati Express, KM Aquarius One, and KM Sena 01.

He continues to coordinate with field officers to ensure the safety and comfort of tourists during their stay on Harapan Island. Besides deploying personnel, security posts have also been set up near the pier.

"We're constantly coordinating with officers on the ground. Thus far, the situation remains safe, orderly, and conducive," he added.

According to Nuralim, the high number of tourist visits has had a positive impact on the local economy, benefiting sectors such as accommodation, transportation, lodging, and culinary businesses on and around Harapan Island.

"Hopefully, tourist visits continue to increase so that Harapan Island tourism becomes even more widely known," he concluded.
