Jakarta Showcases MICE Potential at IMEX Frankfurt 2026

The Jakarta Tourism and Creative Economy (Parekraf) Agency is participating in IMEX Frankfurt 2026, one of the world's leading MICE industry exhibitions, held at Messe Frankfurt, Germany, from May 19–21, 2026.

Jakarta aims to maximize its participation in IMEX Frankfurt 2026 to strengthen and promote the city's MICE ecosystem, from international-standard venues and professional Destination Management Company (DMC) networks to its creative economy sector that supports global-scale corporate and incentive events.

City Promotes Tourism and MICE Destinations in Bangkok

IMEX Frankfurt 2026 is expected to become one of the most prestigious MICE events this year, featuring participants from more than 100 countries, 3,500 hosted buyers, and over 4,000 buyers from 60 countries with decision-making authority over multi-million-dollar incentive travel and convention programs.

Demand from buyers across Asia, the Middle East, and Africa is also expected to remain strong, representing emerging global markets.

Jakarta Tourism and Creative Economy Agency Head Andhika Permata said the city's participation in IMEX Frankfurt 2026 reflects Jakarta's ambition to strengthen its position as a leading MICE destination in Southeast Asia.

"Our presence at IMEX Frankfurt 2026 reflects our commitment to positioning Jakarta as a leading MICE destination not only in Southeast Asia, but also globally," he said on Tuesday (5/19).

He stressed that Jakarta's participation at the international exhibition goes beyond symbolic representation and demonstrates the city's commitment to opening wider opportunities for global industry players.

"We invite international meeting planners, associations, and corporate buyers to experience Jakarta, a dynamic city that combines modern infrastructure with rich cultural heritage and world-class event facilities," he explained.

Jakarta Parekraf Agency Marketing and Attraction Division Head Lucky Wulandari said the city's participation focuses on strengthening the MICE sector, which has long served as a key driver of Jakarta's business tourism industry.

"This aligns with Jakarta's spirit of innovation in the MICE sector while supporting efforts to accelerate the city's entry into the world's top 20 global cities," she emphasized.

Through the Tourism and Creative Economy Agency, Jakarta is taking part in IMEX Frankfurt 2026 with five tourism stakeholders actively supporting the city’s tourism industry, including the Indonesian Exhibition Companies Association (ASPERAPI) and PT Jakarta International Expo, one of Southeast Asia's largest exhibition centers with 12 halls and 50,000 square meters of indoor exhibition space that regularly hosts international trade shows.

Meanwhile, Dwidaya Wisata Indonesia and Panorama Destination Management Company (DMC) serve as leading professional DMC's in Jakarta, while BTN Jakim acts as a strategic partner in developing the city's sports tourism sector.

"With this participation, the Jakarta Tourism and Creative Economy Agency aims to significantly increase the MICE sector's contribution to regional revenue and international tourist arrivals through business travel, while strengthening Jakarta's image as Southeast Asia's MICE hub," she noted.
