Waste Management and City Planning Set as Next Year's Priorities

Jakarta City Council Commission D Chairwoman, Yuke Yurike ensured that a range of priority programs—spanning infrastructure, environment, housing, and urban planning—are already part of the Regional Government Work Plan (RKPD) 2027 deliberations.

We are double-checking and sharpening the focus on these matters

She stated that the objective of the RKPD meeting is to guarantee that every program proposed by Commission D's executive partners is covered in the upcoming year's plan.

“We were essentially ensuring that the specific concerns of Commission D in every agency have been incorporated into the RKPD. We are double-checking and sharpening the focus on these matters,” she remarked, Tuesday (5/26).

Yuke Yurike Urges Residents to Take Good Care of RTH

Waste management in the capital emerged as a primary focus during the RKPD deliberations. Commission D has urged that every waste management and reduction strategy be integrated into the RKPD 2027.

Further, the commission scrutinized green open space targets, specifically those related to burial grounds. She stressed, the revitalization of slum areas is another priority receiving serious attention from the regional government.

In the deliberation, they also promoted residential revitalization through off-budget funding mechanisms, including Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and the National Amil Zakat Agency (Baznas).

She stated that there has been a significant number of requests from residents for house repairs aimed at maintaining basic living standards without the need for comprehensive reconstruction.

“The minimum goal is for the house to be functional and habitable,” she remarked.

Regarding flood mitigation, Commission D has requested the Water Resources Agency to proceed with its existing roadmap for river and waterway normalization.

Besides South Jakarta and the Ciliwung River, improvements in the West Jakarta area are deemed essential for the agenda 2027.

“Clearly, the focus is on finalizing the projects that were initiated previously,” she remarked.

At the same time, the Housing, Spatial Planning, and Land Use Agency (CKTRP) is expected to prioritize the enforcement of Functional Suitability Certificates (SLF) and Building Approvals (PBG) in the coming year.

The agency also advocates for the accelerated finalization of the Detailed Spatial Plan (RDTR), which is currently pending in various regions. Additionally, Yuke urged the Bina Marga Agency to maintain the construction of sidewalks, community roads, and mobility-enhancing access as key priorities within the RKPD 2027 framework.

Yuke added that despite the individual budget allocations being pending, her side has ensured that the nomenclature for all priority programs is already included in the Jakarta government’s planning framework.

“We are essentially overseeing and monitoring the process. Hopefully, the related agencies have ensured that all program entries are fully integrated,” she affirmed.
